Assessment of physicians whose practices encompass complementary and alternative/integrative medicine

At the end of this webinar, participants will be able to:

1.       Articulate what “Complementary and Alternative Medicine” (CAM) / “Complementary Integrative    Medicine” (CIM) mean in the current context of physician practice.
2.       Define what CAM/CIM practice encompasses, from both a Canadian and American perspective.
3.       Explain how physicians who practice CAM/CIM are assessed, from the medical regulatory perspective/licensing body lens (CPSO).
4.       Describe how CAM/CIM physicians are assessed in one region in the United States (Colorado).
5.       Differentiate between evidence-based CAM/CIM therapies (e.g. mindfulness meditation, holistic approach to treatment of disease, nutritional interventions); and those practices lacking in substantiated clinical trial outcomes or other scientific evidence (e.g. use of essential oils as oncology treatment).
